I recently joined The Oregon Chapter of the National Museum of Women in the Arts as a Founding Circle Member. As a dedicated organization committed to celebrating and promoting the work of women artists in the Pacific Northwest and local affiliate of the renowned National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C., the Oregon Chapter plays a vital role in advocating for gender equality in the art world.

Key Initiatives and Programs for Women in the Arts

The Oregon Chapter offers a variety of programs and initiatives aimed at empowering women artists and fostering a more inclusive art scene. Some of their key activities include:

  • Women to Watch Program: This program highlights emerging and underrepresented women in the arts in the region.Selected artists have the opportunity to showcase their work in exhibitions and participate in professional development opportunities.

  • Community Lectures and Events: The Chapter organizes educational lectures and events that explore the history, contributions, and challenges faced by women artists. These events are open to the public and offer valuable insights into the art world.

  • Artist Support: The Oregon Chapter provides mentorship, networking opportunities, and resources to help women artists advance their careers. They also collaborate with local galleries and institutions to showcase their work.

  • Advocacy: The Chapter advocates for gender equality in the art world by raising awareness about the issues faced by women artists and working to create a more equitable environment.

Join the Movement

Whether you're an artist, art lover, or simply interested in supporting gender equality, the Oregon Chapter of the National Museum of Women in the Arts welcomes your involvement. By joining the organization, you can become part of a community dedicated to celebrating the achievements of women artists and creating a more inclusive and equitable art world.

I am hoping to write about and feature more women artists on my blog as I attend openings or discover artists who may have been overlooked in the past. To learn more about the Oregon Chapter and how you can get involved, please visit their website at nmwaoregon.com.
