Light Paintings and Abstract Photography Study

Photography has a history of being used to record and document light reflected or emitted from the objects or beings in an environment. This scientific description belies the massive amount of manipulation photography undergoes in our contemporary world. Some of these images are from 35mm film that has been scanned and reworked and some are digital. What is common with both processes is the playful and thoughtful process of regeneration into other colors and forms. It reminds me that I can make something, but it will never be the same as standing there in presence and time. Most of these images become abstractions and a few are definable. Generally, I find the default to be that we like to make sense, assign meaning or define what we are seeing.
